VBS Week is full of exciting activities that engage our Travelers (the children) while showing them how God is with them all the time! Check out a list of the activities below!

Opening & Closing

all ages

For opening, our Travelers gather each morning in the church sanctuary to watch the skit together. They will also learn our Green Light Verse and Daily Mile Markers. Before they head out for their first activity, they will also learn more about our week's Mission Projects.

At closing, all ages gather back together in the sanctuary to participate in a short time of trivia to review what we've learned from the day's Bible stories. They will also review the Daily Mile Markers and find out how close they are to reaching the Mission Project Goal.

Bible Story

all ages

Each day our Travelers will hear a Bible Story, straight from God's Word. These stories are age-appropriate and utilize fun and engaging learning styles.

Our Kindergarten through 3rd grade groups also participate in a short science lesson to help reinforce the day's story.

Games

all ages

Games are one of the Travelers favorite activities! These games are adapted to each age group and can be anywhere from low to high intensity to allow all kids to participate. You'll likely find them playing a relay-style game, or completing fun tasks.

Snack & Rec

all ages

We all know kids are always up for a good snack break! Our kitchen makes sure they are well fed and, many times, even have cute snacks to follow along with the day's Bible story. Following the small snack, we send our Travelers out to Rec to enjoy a short "recess".

*If your child has dietary needs, we do our best to accomodate the requests. Be sure to make note of any allergies or dietary needs when registering.

Crafts

K - 5th grade

Crafts happen Monday - Thursday during the week, and are a great way for the Travelers to use their artistic skills and abilities. One of our favorite crafts is making a picture frame for each Traveler to put their photo in to bring home at the end of the week!

While our Kindergarten through 3rd graders enjoy a different craft each day, our 4th & 5th grade group typically makes one craft for the week.

Music

K - 3rd grade

A great way to praise and worship God all week long is through singing and dancing. Hearing all of the children and volunteers singing praise together is truly awesome!

4TH & 5TH GRADERS

Following the opening at Arthur Mennonite Church, our 4th and 5th graders enjoy some time off-site at the Arthur United Methodist Church with their leaders to hear the Bible Story and enjoy many of the other activities together. They return to Arthur Mennonite Church for games and the closing.

JUNIOR HIGH

We love seeing our Junior High group join everyon for opening each morning. After they are dismissed, this group heads out with their leaders to various local spots for stories, devotionals, games, and lots and lots of snacks.

A few places they have visited in the past include:

  • Brad-O-Clen
  • The Great Pumpkin Patch
  • Bryan Yoder's Pond & Pavilion

On Friday, this group joins with the 4th and 5th grade to pass out Blessing Bags around Arthur, and then enjoy a fun game together!
